Pretty little scene, with the right ss I think! I am wishing for a wee bit more space at the top, but that is a minor nit. I like the pile of leaves that collected on the rock to the left.

I'm always attracted to moving water images.  Shutter speed feels good for this image.  As presented, it feels a bit dark.  I tried a couple of things on this to bring out more water and a touch more contrast.  See what you think...

Chris,
This is very nice. Shutter speed choice works well giving the image a sense of dynamism.  Well seen.

Chris, this is great! I love the subtle S shape to the flowing water and the colorful leaves. I might try to clone out the spray in the upper right corner, it distracts just a little.

I prefer your original post rather than Keith's brighter version, it just feels more real to me.

I think this is a very nice stream image with a shutter speed that brings wonderful texture and softness to the water.  The muted colors are a terrific contrast.  Good job.

This is nicely composed, with good structure and balance. I will admit that your previous posts grabbed me more, they had that etherial zen-like quality that became your trademark, which is not in full display here. This one is certainly more about the movement and dynamics of the water and for that it works very well for me.  I do like your darker processing more than Keith's.

Nice fall color waterfall. I like the darker and more mysterious presentation too. I might burn the white water  left edge toward  the top, but very minor.  Real nice fall Sierra scene.

This is pretty interesting Chris.  I like the energy here.  The flow of the water is awesome and the smattering of color works very well.

Keith,
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. And for taking the time to illustrate them with the atatched post. I think that works fine as well. But do prefer my original presentation. It was in shade, with just a dappling of light hitting a few spots and along the upper edges.

Chris,

A solid, "centered" composition; what I mean to say is that this is beautifully balanced, allowing the eye to explore every quadrant, rock, leaf and the flowing water.  The shutter speed is spot on, allowing motion and texture, but not letting anything get burned out. Beautifully seen, captured, processed and presented.  Would love to have this in my archives!

I also vote for your original.  I think Kieth's version is just too bright.  Perhaps a difference in monitors when he processed.  I think version is jussssst right.

Lovely water Chris. I like that you just focused on the rapids here.

Looks like a fun find, Chris.  I'm enjoying the contrast between the moving water (which you've captured nicely) and the lovely fall leaves sitting on the rocks.  You've created a fine sense of the quiet action that makes walking along a small stream so much fun.

Nicely balanced composition. The rocks frame the flow beautifully.

Love the details and textures you achieved in the water, Chris, and the subtle warm hues of the leaves.  A beautiful, idyllic image.

Nice job on this, Chris. The water motion around the rocks looks very nice and I like the fall color and the touch it adds to this scene. The comp you came up with here does have a nice flow and works well for me. I too prefer the version you posted and the feel it has.

Hi Chris,

The original image posted rocks in my book. The motion in the water comes across beautifully, and the hints of Autumn are a nice element in this image. I just truly love the this one feels.

Really sweet work

Wow.That's all I can say. While looking at this from my iphone I was all ready to say that you could have improved this with a shutter speed that's twice as fast. But when I opened the large version. This is just jaw dropping good. You, my friend, are an accomplished photographer. That is a work of art. This belongs in an art gallery. Incredible and inspiring.

There is one teensy thing though. There must have been a yellow leaf underwater in the top left center of the image and with the slow shutter speed it gives the appearance of a yellow streak in the water. Don't know if that bothers you but it's confusing because it doesn't look like a leaf.
