Winter Blue

Sometimes simple is better and tells the story perfectly. I wanted this image to convey the sense of winter and cold, yet have some light filtering through to provide some warm. This happened to be one of those great calm mornings in Rocky Mtn National Park in which everything seemed to glisten after a winter storm. Enjoy.

Lovely and soft, just like a snowy morning should feel like after a storm. The colors are so soft and beautiful and the simplicity is marvelous.

Very simple and elegant comp, and I enjoy the slightly curved tree stem.

Ken,

Elegant indeed, and sublime comes to mind as well.  I love that you've left the blues in here and there is a hint of some warmth being let in.

Normally, one might want some additional room top and bottom, but I just find the overall comp to be really appealing given the light, color and hues.  This is a wonderful winter scene; simple, yet bold and engaging.  Great job seeing and crafting the comp.

Very nice, Ken. I really like this.  I am a fan of lone, cold, but healthy looking trees.  They just have so much symbolic depth.  This one is a fabulous specimen, captured at a perfect time (the billows of snow at base and on branches) in excellent light.  I like the off-center composition.  I can imagine this square, but off-center also.

Thanks for sharing such a wonderfully seasonal image.

Absolutely wonderful, although cold it really screams calm and peacefulness. Very clean and elegant, I find it quite soothing. devil
