Hand Held from a boat.  I truly enjoy the head angle.  I am thinking this Osprey thought this banquet is favorable at several angles.  We can see the nictitating membrane really well in this picture.  The nictitating membrane (from Latin nictare, to blink) is a transparent or translucent third eyelid present in some animals that can be drawn across the eye for protection and to moisten it while maintaining visibility.  Bon Appetite!

Ha! Epic shot, Elizabeth! What a look you captured here and a very pleasing frame overall. Did you use a bit of fill-flash? Nice balance if so, and good control of the lighting either way. Love the fish-in-the-talons view as well.

That is indeed quite the pose, Elizabeth, sure has me wondering what the Osprey is looking for/at.  Your comp. works very well plus the bird, it's prey, and it's perch stand out nicely against a fine background.  The image seems just a bit soft.  I'm wondering if adding some mid-tone contrast and/ possibly more sharpening would fix that.

Great angle on teh eye.  I've never seen that before.  Maybe that's why they're such good fishers.

Those omega 3s are good for osprey.  Very nice light here.  The image is sharp.  It tells a good story.

Nice capture, Elizabeth!  That's the most unusual head angle I've ever seen on a bird pic! It was probably seeing you completely upside down!

Elizabeth, the sharpened repost looks good, a nice improvement on an already fine image.
