Bobcat At Home

I haven't posted images in a while, but I have been a regular lurker.  The other day this opportunity came and I just had to share. We had a special visitor a few days ago. About 9 AM this wonderful bobcat visited our yard. It was gracious enough to pose for 3 minutes (according to the time ...stamp on the images). Last time it or a relative visited for us to take pictures was Christmas day of 2013. We hear them and know they are there, but they are hard to see. This one was at the end of your property about 75 feet off our deck. Images made with 7D2 100-400 II and 1.4 TC @ ISO 1600, F8 and 1/400 sec.  Thanks for looking.

Ed, good to see you posting again!

We too enjoy our backyard wildlife guests, though we have not seen any bobcats yet (the most exciting has been a black bear with two cubs). This one looks healthy and hopefully will return for another photo session.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jim. Life has been so busy that my participation in the internet has lessened, obviously.  Now retirement is very busy with a major national volunteer position.  However, I have resolved that I MUST make time for the things I want to do for myself.  Besides, posting is fun.  I appreciate your commenting on the image.

Hello Ed     .... Great to have you here !  Good look at this guy, with a pensive looking cat.

Terrific luck to have such a visitor!  Techs look fine with excellent detail.  My eye readily identified the foreground as cut grass and I think you can make that less noticeable if you crop some of the green foreground.  I also think he will present best lower in the frame anyway, feeling more "grounded."  Upon closer exam I see a hint of man made element in the dark background with the horizontal lines.  I would have no hesitation in selectively darkening those elements to keep the eye from stopping there.  Neat capture!

Lucky you, Ed.  This is a handsome cat.  It seems the bobcats are out in force this winter!
