Pastel Sunrise

Nikon D700
Nikon 17-35 @ 32 mm
f 18 @ 1.6 sec.
ISO 200
tripod & cable release
Cape Henlopen SP, DE

This was without a doubt a very surreal morning with the sun rising in the fog and creating some lovely pastel colors. I got to the beach before sunrise and did not expect much with the fog and overcast conditions. As the sun started to rise the whole scene just lit up with this sublime warm glow. Aas an added bonus I got to watch some dolphins swimming along the shoreline.

As always thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

Beautiful - I love everything about this image.  This would make an excellent print or postcard

I like the pastel tones and the simple composition works very well. I might be tempted to add a bit of cyan to the predominantly warm scene to create a bit more of a color contrast.

Ed,

This is beautiful!  Almost surreal and certainly very dreamy.  I'm with Luke,  I can see this as a large print adorning the wall of a lovely space.

I suppose given what we are able to do in processing you could take this in many directions, but I'm really enjoying this just as you've presented it.

Very beautiful, Ed. I like the way you captured the streaks in the water via the slow ss. The pastel colors and gorgeous, and the bit of sun is a nice element as well.

SPECTACULAR!  This really evokes strong emotion, which is exactly what a successful image is supposed to do.  The large version is just breathtaking.  I like this as presented, I wouldn't change a thing.  Print this large and hang proudly.

I really like this one! The simplicity is just great, and the hint of the sun through the mist is a great detail. It would have been a winner without that, but this makes it even better. I like the warm look you choose as well.

Surreal indeed, Are you sure this was taken on earth? Impressionistic. Well chosen shutter speed. Great capture of this extraordinary atmosphere and conditions.

Ed: While it is a small element the sun peeking through the fog makes this shot more enjoyable for me. Beautiful color palette and wonderful movement in the water. Most excellent.>=))>devil

The plainness of your composition works exceptionally well for me. Exposure and processing are spot on to my eye, and the sun as focal point just makes the difference.
