Harlequin Drake

I took quite a few pictures of this bird and was hoping that it would be more colorful.  The young male prefers to venture in the drainage creek and has been present since last December.  It was sunny with wind gusts of around 40 mph which explains all of the small ripples around the duck.  It should start heading North very soon. I appreciate comments and critiques.  K5 IIs 600 mm f5.6 (1/800 sec at f9.0, ISO 800).  Thank you...........................Jim

Nice photo of this duck, Jim.  I think the ripples add to the photo especially with all the reflected colors. You held him still even with the high winds.  Well done.

I like all the ripples around the duck, Jim, and you got some nice detail in the bird with good exposure.  I kind of like the going away angle.  Looks like he's got business to transact somewhere.
