Desert Garden

This was a later afternoon shot of my favorite desert garden here in Southern California. I really liked this little patch of bright little upright cactus against the background of the larger dark cactus to the left of the frame here. This is pretty much full frame, a bit of cropping off the top and the right side to remove some distracting elements. Specs. Canon 60D, f16, 1/100sec, iso 400, -1.3 exp bias, 100 mm.

Nice shot.  That sure is a collection of cactus species.  I think you could bring the bottom od the frame up a bit without losing anything.

Love the back lighting here, Ed.  It's a great garden with the various clumps of cacti.  The group that's the focus of this view stands out very nicely while all of their neighbors add up to a great "cactiscape", that shows especially well in the larger view.

I like the back lighting and most of the composition on this one, Ed.  I do wish the dark triangle in the upper left weren't so dense.

What a neat collection of cactuses! You went for a comp that does this scene right, and the backlit cactus is a great bonus. The dark part on the left could maybe use some dodging, but that's a minor nit.

I really like the lighting.  It displays the variations in the cactus.  Well done!  Congratulations.
