This cub image was taken at Tiger Canyons sanctuary in South Africa, which is run by John Varty, this facility has been heavily criticised by many for interbreeding.
However recent research has indicated that there are in fact only 2 sub-species

Even allowing for this it has been a tremendous success .
Whilst it is for obvious reasons fenced, it is not what I would describe as a zoo, the Tigers by and large kill their food.
This cub was one of two rescued from a "canned hunting" facility, and it was a great pleasure for my wife and I to spend some time with them.

2 commentsa very nice image and I like the natural settings and the good usage of depth of field. The outside tongue and the cuteness factor are a great bonus as well. Technically well done.
Thanks for posting in the "Man & Fauna" gallery and for the information about the "Tiger Canyon Sanctuary".
Thanks very much
