Winter Ending?

It looks like the winter season is coming to an end here in S.W. WI., but I'm really not so sure about that. I have seen some pretty big winter storms here in March so we will see what happens. Today we had some light rain, fog and the temps were at 68 to 70 degrees which is quite a bit above the norm for here. It did feel nice though...for now. Larger version included.
5D3 and 24-105L. B&W conversion.

I like the starkness, the various shades of gray, and the nicely balanced comp, Nick. The form of the foreground tree is interesting as it looks like it is missing the upper right corner. We're experiencing the same, above normal temps, and it looks like an early spring for us as well.

Real sweet, Nick. Great misty mood!  I would not mind just a little bit more room at the top, but real minor.  I like this a lot.

You do these scenes so well, Nick. I love the odd shape of the main tree. The gradual softening of the other elements in the frame leading to the background adds a great sense of depth, as does the lightness imparted by the fog. To top it off, the B&W tones  are delightful.

I like the moody feel of this image. This was a perfect image for a B&W conversion. Fine image.

Wow, Nick, you made a splendid photo here! Love the atmosphere, the trees scattered around in the landscape, the layer effetc, etc. It all comes together perfectly here!

This image has strong emotional impact. The fact that the tree does not have a splendid royal crown of branches but is battered from one side particularly sets the tone for this image. The mist grey approach here done in B&W further supports the overall image. It's a beautiful image in a stark and raw manner. And it represents aspects of winter very well. I think this is excellent.

Really nice, Nick. You captured a great range of tones and the light ground fog sets the table for the rest of the scene rather nicely. The tree shape is a bit unusual, but that sets it apart from other similar images. Great conversion with the B&W BTW.

Nick,
Perfect image for B&W rendering. Fog provides a really nice mood. Just a hair more room up top would be nice. I might be tempted to try to clone in a thin strip.

Hi   Nickcrying.  I like how you composed all the  different elements of  this  scene...  especially the clouds  to  achieve  such a  foreboding  mood...  excellent work on the B&W conversion

Excellent.  Not much to add.

Maybe a touch more breathing room between the tree and the edge of the frame up top, but that is being picky... :)

That's quite a tree, Nick.  Looks like it's had a big chunk on the right taken off, which gives it a very intriquing shape that you've matched very well with the distant ridge.  The fog adds a good sense of depth.

Nick,

Wonderful mood here with the mist and great character with this old tree.  To me, I thought of God taking a big bite out of the tree, OR I just made this one up... how about "Treeclipse?"

The only suggestion I have has already been mentioned, and that's a wish for just a tad more room up top.

This looks like a tree and location you could get in all the different seasons.
