My Buddy

My buddy "Merl" the Merlin was hanging around this evening on my neighbor's tree.  The bird is quite complacent (the roosting trees are on a busy road) which is a welcome change from most raptors encountered.  I was able to take advantage of the warm lighting, but even so the exposure required +.7 to +1 exposure compensation and a higher ISO

Nice catch light in his eye, nice warm colors in the late evening light. Nice to have a regular visitor to work with Luke.

Great light and a nice head turn, Luke.  I also like the branch it chose; it makes a very nice curve through the image.  Nice job on the exposure.

Great light, Luke. The curve of branch and clear background add a lot to the image. Very good techs abd comp.

Luke: rare to see a raptor in such warm light and it's a treat. Like the pose, techs and composition. Congrats. Richard

A friendly, photogenic falcon; that's a rare treat. Good use of the opportunity. I like the head turn and the light is very good.

That light is fantastic Luke. And the headturn makes for a nice pose. Well done!
