I had a very good day with a few of these that were bathing in our pond then preening nearby back in early June of last year.  I posted a few of them back then, but was going back through the files and I really liked this pose.  I was a bit far away, so this is quite a crop.

7D2, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f/6.3, 1/1250, iso 800.  Aperture priority, center-weighted average metering, -2/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to 4.8 MP before resizing for web.  Taken at 6:58 PM on June 5th, 2015.

Comments and  criticisms are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,

Very appealing image Dennis, in every way.  Great light, exposure, background.  Love the way you depicted the shaking off behavior of the sparrow.  Perfect shutter speed.  Really nice.

super pose, Dennis, and a nice comp to go with it.  this bird has the look of a juvenile Spizella-type sparrow to me.

Love the action Dennis.  It gave me a nice little chuckle.  Nice and sharp and well composed.

Great light and a very captivating pose, Dennis. I like the elements in the image and your composition is pleasing as well. Good choice of shutter speed with the blurred wings and sharp head.
