Canyon Sleet

Light fog and lots of sleet in Keystone Canyon, Valdez, Alaska.  Since we were having a couple weeks of miserably sloppy weather at the same time this challenge came up, I went out shooting in conditions I normally would avoid to get some appropriate images. A combination of wet snow and rain are streaking across this scene, making for some interesting lines and textures.  It was also blowing which made it very difficult to get the shot.  Even with a fairly large lens hood, the lens kept getting splattered with water and snow.

There's a lot more to look at in the large version.

Hello Gary,...Congrats on achieving this capture and getting the mood across very well. Yes the larger version shows off the weather nicely.

It looks pretty miserable out there but at the same time I think this is a really nice shot depicting weather in Alaska. I really like the image for the effective gotten across. I think the composition is quite nice. I'm just not sure this qualifies as fog.

Nice catch, Gary, with the sleet showing well.  The mix of snow, river, and scenery looks great with the curve of the river, obscured ridge and the bit of snow in the lrc creating a fine sense of depth.

Lovely image.  I like the tones in the BG and the action of the falling rain and snow.  Very nice.
