Superbly sharp and great colour.
Has it just taken off from a river/pond?

Composition looks a little chopped off at the base. Lower wing tip not having enough imaginary room to swing into.

John, this is a small pond in the city limits of Fort Worth, Texas. The heron was trying to land as it flew along the distant shoreline.

Have you any with the pond at the base? Just feel it would give the image an anchor at the base instead of leaving us looking for more.
