Vine Snake Strike

This is an older image of mine that I decided to try re-processing in B&W, and I like how it turned out. It was taken in the jungle in western Ecuador, and the challenge was getting close enough to elicit this response, without getting close enough to get bitten.

The dof really works on this one, Thomas.  The B&W treatment is well done.

I always think these open mouth vine snake shots are pretty cool, and this one works quite well in B&W, especially with the way it fades into the darkness.

Too close for comfort Thomas. Fascinating look in B&W.

Thomas: a unique, spooky and very good capture and rendering. This would make a good poster for a horror movie. Neat!! Richard

Very striking image (sorry I could not resist).  The B&W works well here and the DOF really adds interest.  Well done.

I remembered the color version you posted some time ago, liked it then and still like it.  That said, I think the B&W version is a fine twist on the original, enhancing its graphic appeal.  Thumbs up.

That's completely different, Thomas. Well conceived and executed.

Fascinating image.  I hope you won the second part of the challenge!
