Arctic Freeze

One of numerous snow showers that passed by as I spent a most interesting afternoon at Vareid in the Lofotens. One out was spent trying to dig my car, stuck in a ditch filled with snow, out using my hands and an ice scraper for the windscreen. After a kind sheep farmer towed me out, I made this photo.

Great energy.  Much as I like the foreground, I'm wondering if a little less of it would let it not overpower the background mountain peeking out from under that cloud curtain.

This has a brooding, tempestuous look to it. The rocks, water, and mountain all have conforming shapes which gives the composition a lot of strength. The mists rising from the mountain help a lot as well. Don't know what to suggest. I'm not a big fan of narrow verticals. I think this image would 'breathe' more freely if cropped to just above the bottom 2 rocks. But that's just me.

Excellent shutter speed and the storm thrall in the distance gives a nice menacing look to it.
Beautiful hue....

I love how the snow perfectly frames the mountain, that is just great! SS is spot on, and the rocks look very nice. Well worth getting stuck in the snow.

Dramatic seascape. Love the dark, moody presentation. Worth the effort!

Hi Kah Kit crying  ..   With the waves crashing on the rocks  in the foreground,     and the portentous snow clouds on the background mountains.   the  drama  and power this image  conveys is amazing..   excellent workdevil  .

You excel at these near to far wide angle compositions - shots that I favor myself, but rarely pull off with such skill. Everything works for me here and great mood too.

This has a very moody and dramatic feel to it. The layout of the rocks and the way the water flows through them draws you right into the image.

Great composition and mood. The dark and broody feel really work well with the blue tones in this image. Very nice work!

Very dramatic and moody. I like the framing as it is, and the shutter speed is perfect. It could be just me, but I am seeing a little green in the clouds/snow squall and in the snow in the background mountains. The color of the water and the foreground look fine. I do like how the squall helps draw attention to the mountains.

Well done!

Great take, mood and energy,  I love your work. I would prefer a little less blue cast and a quicker exposure to get more detail in the splash. Just to emphasize the adrenaline rush of the dig.

Great composition and it's the kind of picture that I love, wide angle with a foreground that guides the eyes towards a beautiful background. Congratulation, very nice work!
