Hopefully, I got the species right this time.  For some reason we saw an awful lot more juveniles of this species than we did adults in the time I was on the St. Johns.  This was another one take along the Ocklawaha tributary.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 421 mm, hand held from boat, f/8, 1/2500, iso 500, manual exposure.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to a 4x5 format at 13.1 MP before resizing.  Taken at 5:39 PM on March 23rd.

Comments and criticisms are welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks,

Excellent exposure and processing of the whites in this contrasty scene, Dennis.  The contrast between the white bird and the background worked well to separate the heron from the habitat.  Last time I was down south (several years ago) I saw lots of juvies and few adults of this species too (very hard to tell from Snowy Egret if you can't see the feet).  But they were pretty far away.  I would love to get into that habitat with a boat;  must have been an exciting trip!

Funny....I remember this bird also.  You did great with the whites and it stands out well from the background.  I like the one leg, resting pose.

I also like the one legged pose and the whites do look processed well Dennis. Stands out pretty good against all the greens. Tough exposure, though well done!
