Longwood Gardens

I got a chance to visit Longwood Gardens, a public gardens outside of Philly, last week. What a truly amazing place! 400 acres, including a 4 acre conservatory. I had no control over the timing of the day of my visit, so I was too early in the season for the outdoor gardens (except a field of daffodils), plus the day I was there was very cold with 100% bright sunshine and very strong winds. cheeky  The bright sunshine made shooting in the glass enclosed conservancy difficult (lots of contrast), as did all the people. I was not able to get many gardenscape type images of the conservancy due to the harsh light and people, but here is one image of a corridor, taken right before closing, that my wife likes. p.s., if you are ever in the area, I highly recommend touring these spectacular gardens. blush

Really nice shot under difficult conditions. This walkway leads to my favorite place-The Orchid Room. I assume you handheld this since tripods are not allowed after 12.devil

The light helps make this shot for me, Scott.  The diagonal shafts falling on the pavement seem to emphasize the perspective, and there is a nice play of light and dark across the image, reflective of the time of day.  Lovely textures in the greenery too, and a very attractive colour combination.

Scott: The larger version is an absolute masterpiece IMO. Love all the detail and the light/shadow play. MOST Excellent! >=))>

This is gorgeous Scott. Love the long corridor with the fantastic colors and light coming through the windows. The larger version is indeed amazingly detailed. It feels a bit tilted to the left for some reason. I wonder how it would do if you would try transforming or skewing the top a bit outward on both sides. Just some ideas. Almost looks like a painting.
