Fog and Fault

Taken last Saturday morning from the south end of the Carrizo Plain. We had a bunch of rain overnight turning the dirt roads to mud pits, then thick pre-dawn fog, then a quick clearing and then the weather got wet again. Lots of fun from our new, dry pop-up camper and a nice change from the standard California skies.

Somewhere before the range in the BG lies the San Andreas Fault, hence the title.

Dave,
This is very nice. Beautiful lighting on the hills and the rolling fog is intriguing. Processing looks good - no nits.

Nice layers of color and tones, Dave. The clouds above and below the main range really help set off the mountains.I also like the darker clouds in the far background. No nits here.

This works really nicely.   The clouds over the fault line provide an ominous mood that is appropriate to an earthquake zone.  Very nice job.  If I were to suggest anything, it might be to crop a bit of sky off the top. The drawback to this is that it would create a 50/50 pano.

Dave,

Early light, fog, clouds, shadows... always a beautiful sight.  Wonderful conditions and a great job capturing the moment.  I especially like the subdued light, contrast and color in the upper clouds; they really help balance the image. And for that I wouldn't crop. Although if anything, I'm wishing for a tad more room at the bottom. But then I suspect there is something down there you had to exclude, or maybe not.

The semi-pano works great here.  Well done, gotta love this.

Camper???? What happened to the tent!?!? Anyway, I like this a lot, but do wish for a bt more room at the bottom. Processing looks great, and I like the look of those big clouds in the distance towering above the hills.

Sorry Roel! Yes we got a pop-up camper which really came in handy over a tent on this night given the steady, heavy rain. So I may be working in a few camperscapes along, with hopefully, continuing to present tentscapes. Here's the camper on the same morning.

Nicely framed mountains in clouds and mist. The light is really wonderful as the sun hits the condensation. The background being dark really makes the colors pop.

What a cloud and fog show!! Real nice. I might pull a little cyan out of the back clouds?

Very nice clouds that look to crush the mountains or to roll them. I like this big difference for the clean FG to the foggy BG. I like it.
