Drebachiensis ...

In and around a small village, Drebach, in the Erzgebirge in South-East Germany there is a wonderful floral event in Spring.  The ground seems to erupt in a particular form of Crocus which is found nowhere else.  Gardens, the surrounding fields, roadside verges, they grow and spread like 'weeds' ... A very special time to visit this otherwise innocuous village.  The Crocus carries the name: Crocus vernus Wulf Forma Drebachiensis.  In March we had the opportunity to visit and in a field on the edge of the village we were able to explore this photographic opportunity.

A larger view can be found HERE.

Sigma SD1M, Sigma 180mm Macro, F3.5, ISO 100, 1/50 sec.

Cheers, Mark

Beautiful shot Mark. Soft, ethereal, some nice texture in the background. Well done.

Lovely, dreamy look at this sweet little crocus. Nice bokeh and colors, good comp too.

Very nice, simple picture. The crocus is pretty and the colors are pleasing. The background bokeh is quite good.cool

Mark: I'm a sucker for crocus in general (we can't grow them where we live) and this one in particular. Wonderful POV and final result.>=))>
