From the Shadows

It's one thing to capture a nice "clean" photo of a leopard out in the open (I do love those).
It's entirely another to capture the essence of that most elusive and stealthy feline in the African bush in a single frame.
This image kind of does the latter for me.
Your thoughts?

Techs:
Nikon D3s
Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II
f4.0 | 1/250 SS | ISO-4000

I agree with you on this one Morkel. The oof foreground is perfect to give the impression the leopard is stalking it's prey. I really like the BW treatment. It makes the sharp eye and spots really pop. Nice moody work here.

This is great stuff!  Love the mysterious mood this conveys.  Nicely conceived and executed.

Tells it like it is.  It says so much about the Leopard's behavior.  I like it.

The sparkling eye n whiskers work very well here.
If this was mine, I would blur the twig in front of face.

I'm not usually a fan of black and white or vingnetting, but they both work very well here. Nicely conceived and executed, Morkel. A strong, moody shot that implies the mystery of this big cat.
