This photograph was taken on 10/31/2013 along Pine Creek in Zion.  The tree had been blown over during a storm I guess since the previous year when I was there.  But the trunk didn't break completely.  Although it's not apparent from the vantage point of this photograph, the wood at the base of the trunk in the upper right corner truly appeared to be bent, as if it was waterlogged when the tree toppled over.  The tree was still there last November (2015) when I was there, pretty much in the same condition, although a little more weathered.

Trees (and most other life) is amazingly resilient.  Seeing trees like this and trying to "read" their history is something that I occasionally stop and do during a walk in the woods.  This is a fine image, Jim, with lots of eye movement, a good sense of warmth, and outstanding detail.  Well seen and presented.

This is a beautiful old tree Jim. Love the amazing shapes and the nice warm tones throughout. Great detail in the texture of the trunk too. Both thumbs up.
