Common Yellowthroat

Another from Ridgefield.  These were a constant audio presence on the refuge, but I didn't see many of them.  This was just before the auto route departs the water for the last time.  There's a patch of blackberry and teasel that is often productive for small birds and is one of my regular stops.  This time it yielded both a male and a female of this species, though the female managed to stay partially obscured.  I could have done with less teasel in this frame, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 335 mm (still not fully used to having zoom capabilities and forgot to zoom in), f/6.3, 1/5000, iso 640, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to 7.5 MP before resizing.  Taken at 8:47 AM on April 20th.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Nice look at this attractive bird.  I like the singing pose you caught him in.  I might have cropped a bit tighter, taking some off the right.

Excellent Dennis!  I see very few of these birds.  Maybe a vertical crop would work, eliminating a good deal of teasel?

Well done at only 335mm. I can't get this species to pose at all for me.

A lovely catch on this Yellowthroat, Dennis.  I like the open beak (singing loudly) and the cluster of teasel heads.

I like the pose a lot Dennis. I agree with others about maybe trying a different comp. Bummer about the BG teasel behind your subject, but some species seem to never give us a clean view (similar to a Marsh Wren). Good job with what you had to work with,

I like this as composed with the habitat inclusion, but the agree that it would be stronger without the teasel behind the warbler.
