Brown Falcon

I'm pretty sure this is a Brown falcon, but I would appreciate confirmation from any of the Aussies here.  This was photographed from our car last week in Cape Range National Park in Australia's northwest corner.  Overall, it wasn't a bird-heavy trip (a pity, since there are so many gorgeous species there) and I didn't even pack my big lens, so I was happy to get this handsome little raptor at close range.

Can't help with the ID, but I agree that it's a handsome subject, especially in this exciting view!  Great job capturing it flying toward you above the branches.  Nice work preserving both the shadow details and the contrast.

Hi Max
My compliments on this action packed straight-ahead shot. I’m keen on such close-cropped pics. and personally I find that upward elevation brings it’s own set of problems regarding noise in the shadow under wing regions. In this instance, you managed the exposure admirably with no apparent noise. Well done. There is but one nit - the outline of the wings and head is sharp but not so for the legs and talons that appear to have halos.

Nice comp on this one Max. I always like take off images (I guess that is obvious) and this is no exception. The angle of the falcon adds a lot and the position in the frame works nicely. Good work.
