A Giraffe, A Tree and…

by Mario Moreno

Gallery: WildlifePosted May 4, 2016432 views10 comments
A solitary male Giraffe enjoying a bit of shade under the only tree in the area. This image was captured in the Mara North Conservancy while hosting a photographic safari in Kenya.

Who can spot and identify the other creature in this frame ?? blush

Mario: this is really a great shot. The few elements in the frame really serve to draw the viewer to the giraffe as well as to demonstrate that you don't always have to have a full frame close up of the animal to portray the animal.
Looks like there is a white breasted bird on the first large left limb of the tree. Or, am I imagining things? cool Richard

Hi Richard. Thanks for stopping by and for the comment. Yes . . . It's not your imagination. There is a white breasted raptor but can't tell what it is <div id="myEventWatcherDiv" style="display:none;"> </div>

Mario,

as the other commented, the simplicity makes this image.

I think I see also a bird, a raptor as the others said, and it may be an martial eagle, due to the breast color and pose.

Looks like shade is a valuable and difficult commodity to come by there Mario. Love the expanse of the overall scene here. Well placed in the frame.

Very nice capture. I'm a sucker for "animals within their environment images". The simplicity of this shot is very striking.
