Canon 1D-X, 500mm f4 x 1.4 TC, handheld from truck window
f6.3, 1/640, ISO1600

I'm in Cordova for the Copper River Shorebird Festival. The migrating birds are apparently held back by the storm plaguing Cordova. I  thought this shot captured everyone's attitude pretty well.

50% of full frame. Selective sharpening to bird.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Certainly a gloomy mood.  For me the image is too dark.  I looked at the histogram and it was all at less than 50%.  I added a couple adjustment layers, some selective dodging/burning.  See what you think.  Still kept the mood dark, but trying to bring out some of the details in the Eagle.

Great pose, Jim.  I like the dark treatment of the image as it fits the situation.  Nice work.

Love looking at the rain!  The darkness certainly does make a statement.  It reminds me of many dark and wet days afield.  I can almost feel the places where my rain gear is failing.
