Savannah Sparrow

In the center of our newer subdivision in the city of Saskatoon they have left a lot of the native wetlands.  This is less than 3 km from my house.  The other morning I was out there shortly after sunrise when I found the singing Savannah.  The backdrop is a large area of cattails. I was very happy with the soft palette of colors that I achieved.

Thanks for looking and critiques appreciated.

And happy you should be!   In addition to the lovely colors and smooth background, the cattail perch is also ideal, presenting a simple form and flowing diagonal lines.  Even the sparrow seems happy to be singing in the golden light in such a beautiful setting!

This is really nice May. The colors are so warm and pleasing. Focus is perfect on the right subjects without any interference from the BG. Well done.

May,
Wonderful how these relatively "nondescript" birds are actually beautiful, especially when captured as well as thisdevil

Excellent, May. A great composition, perch, background and capture. Fine techs. I can practically hear him calling his name: "Sa-sa-sa-vannah."

Outstanding image.  I like the light, the calling pose and perch.  The background really puts this one over the top.

A really lovely presentation May.  The open mouth makes this so much more than it would have been if closed. Everything you did here is just right. Well done!

I'd be happy with this one too, May.  One of my favorite birds and I love the singing pose and bg.  I might clone the two oof cattail tops sticking into the bottom of the frame.  Lovely image.

Really nice work May. I especially like the two strands on each side of the cattail, it makes for a very nice comp and if mine, I would definitely keep them in. Good work!

Thanks for all the kind words about this image. Regarding the inclusion of the two sprays of foliage at the bottom of the image it is always nice to get differing viewpoints.  I decided to include them because I thought it balanced the image.
