This won't be everyone's cup-o-tea...
We had an intense and dramatic river crossing mere minutes from our camp after sunset in the Mara Triangle last year.
ISO was through the roof, so slow shutter experiments were at the order of the day.

Your thoughts always welcome!

Techs:
Nikon D3s
Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR-II @ 90mm
f2.8  |  1/25 SS  |  ISO-4500

An action-packed & dramatic frame with lot of mood!
IMHO you could go bit wider here. Will prefer to have some more room at the top & on LHS, further the front most wildebeest shouldn't be cut, if there is no room it can be cloned out.
Would have loved to see bigger post.

I've been enjoying these, Morkel.  Not quite as effective as your double page spread shot, but I do like the diagonal line leading out of the frame.

Hi Morkel,

Good drama here...lots to look at here! I like the mood and there's some great contrast (on a variety of levels) in this shot. Always nice to see the colour version when assessing the decision to go B&W, but in an absolute sense this one works well in B&W. At least on the sizes presented here I don't think the ISO hurt you too much.

Nicely done...

Cheers...

Very atmospheric Morkel with a great composition and perfect conversion. devil I'm ok with the slow shutter speed. In fact it might add to the overall result <div> </div> <div id="myEventWatcherDiv" style="display:none;"> </div>
