Rufous Hummingbird

This time with some nice morning sun starting to peek through above a low cloud layer to the east.  Once again, the hummingbird was trying to monopolize the feeders and provided plenty of perched shot opportunities.  In the morning I also have much more leeway on the angle I can use.  In this case I lined myself up to put the perches pretty much in a plane and had the sun almost at my back.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600mm, Wimberly sidekick with Z1 ballhead on RRS legs, f/9, 1/500, iso 1000, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to 12.1 MP in a 4x5 format before resizing.  Taken yesterday morning at 6:12 am.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Nice light, sweet background and great capture. Nicely sharp, too. Very nice, Dennis.

The beautiful tones throughout the image make this a bit special for me, Dennis.  Nicely sharp as well, with the bird's feathers so crisp.  I like the look in its eye too !!

Great early morning light on this Dennis. Wonderful detail in the hummer with a soft bg. The open beak adds too. Well done!  devil

The colors on this are wonderful. There's such a warmth to it. The detail is great. This is an excellent hummingbird shot.   I'm envious that you have enough morning sun to be able to get an image like this. The morning sun doesn't hit my hummingbirds until 9 o'clock because I'm in a valley and my house is in front of the hummingbirds location.  I will need to find a lightbulb that duplicates early morning sun and early morning sun warmth in order to re-create an image like this.
