The Watcher In The Rye

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted June 4, 201645 views6 comments
During the weekend in the south of France for the ATIM Masters Award, we had a wonderful opportunity to photograph the poppy fields.  Some of the results I will post in the Flora Gallery but this picture I thought I would share here:  When studying various close-up compositions it was possible to see that several of the flowers actual hid a deadly surprise for any pollinator that should visit ... (species unknown).

Sigma SD1 Merril, Sigma 180mm Macro F2.8 EX DG OS HSM. Shot at F6.3, 1/500 sec. ISO 200.

A shade for J. D. Salinger!sad A lovely silhouette! I love the way the stem hairs go from light to dark as the gradient light increases. I have no quibble with this strong yet complex shot. It is more than a silhouette, it has the small grace notes of all the fine detail accompanying it. A unique rendition!devil

Mark, The spider is nicely positioned in the frame. I like the gradient background. I also like that I can still see the color and a bit of texture in the petals. Very nice silhouette!

Shooting this as a shadow, adds very well to the sense of danger lurking, Mark.  The hints of color in the flower and the sharpness of the hair on the stem are good, "extras".
