Swimming With Dolphins

An image from my guided swim with wild Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins in Western Australia earlier this year.  The guides employ these motorized underwater scooters and try to get the dolphins' attention, while guests are required to stay back in a group.  Honestly, it's not the best wild dolphin encounter for photography (one I've done in New Zealand is much less restrictive), and as you can see the visibility wasn't great.  However, it was a good test for my Ewa-Marine housing, which at least kept my gear dry!

I liked the way this one turned out, particularly with the high contrast monochrome conversion (something that seemed to be more effective when processing shots from these somewhat milky conditions).  If I recall, I used the healing brush a bit to get rid of some of the spots in the water, though obviously a lot of texture remains.

This is a brilliant interpretation of the scene. I love the rays and the interaction. I wish the tails of the dolphines on the right were not cut but I guess you had some limitations.
