Desert Reflection-Bodie

Here's another from my archive. Harley and I were wandering Bodie on a hot July afternoon a few years ago. I really liked the reflection of the desert and the sky in this old window. I had to use quite a bit of shift on the front standard so that the camera and/or me was not visible.

Chamonix 4x5
Fujinon 180mm
Astia 100F
July 2012

Plesae see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts are always appreciated. cool

I love the painterly look.  The colors are wonderful. You also did a great job of keeping your own reflection out of the image. Perhaps including more of the bottom would have added to it depending on what was there.

The large version is a must. If I had seen it not knowing that it was a photograph it would have taken me a long while to decide that it was not a painting, and then I might not have been sure. No nits, truly gorgeous!

Excellent inside-outside shot !  The varying textures of the window panes add a lot of interest to the desert view, and I like how you've cut off the bottom window frame, somehow adding to the feeling of space.

Preston: I really like how the weathered and detailed window form the framing of the reflection. The old wavy glass makes the reflection appear to be impressionistic. Richard

Agree with others, Preston. This really came out well. I also like the impressionist reflection. Expertly and artistically done.

Beautifully crafted.  My only  "nit" would be that we do not see the lower window pane frame.

This tells the Bodie ghost town story quite well, and I love the painterly look of it. Well done!

After going back to this several times, the distortion in the upper 2 panes of the window is fascinating. I would do an image of just those 2 with a bit of a frame to have a balanced composition.

This is wonderful Preston, as the window frame is a natural frame for a beautiful painting that is captured in the reflection. The sweet aspect to this image is the this natural frame is pretty much acting like a frame for a painting, but it is captured with photography.

Just wonderful!!
