Duck Soup (WC)

No one has submitted fauna with their fog, so here's another older film image of ducks on a very foggy pond. The fog ("soup") obscured practically everything on the pond, allowing me to isolate the mallards. I've always liked the art print look to this photo created by the fog. Mallards, Lily Pond, Mill Creek Park, Youngstown, Nikon F5 (velvia). Comments welcome. crying

Yes, this looks like a fine Audobon illustration, and the fog has helped you achieve that. Such pleasing forms and colors and I love how the male seems to be looking back at his mate, though he may in fact be looking at the photographer!

A very paint-like character, no doubt. I think that the "semi-symmetry", with the ducks in the center, works quite well, as does the subdued saturation.

Not sure why I haven't posted a bird image in this challenge, Scott.  I have some, but kept going with other stuff.  This one is really nice with perfect brightness and contrast in the ducks and their immediate surroundings, but that pure gray bg that fog can create.

Hi Scott,

Common birds presented well worked perfectly in this scene.  No nits and I especially like the contrast between subjects and gray BG........................Jim

Yes, this does have that painterly Audobon look to it.  Very effective comp and tasty title.

The simplicity of the scene with no background to distract works very well.  The rearward head turn of the left hen is nice too

The ducks and their reflections stand out very well in this view, Scott.  There a fine sense of an Audubon print here with how cleanly the fog shows off the two Mallards.
