Thank you for your comments/suggestions on Esacalante 2. I was standing in practically the same spot when I took this one shortly after 2. The sunset was a 360 degree one, with color all around except to the far west which had completely cleared. The clouds and color were best in this direction (northwest), but there isn't much of a vista in this direction because it is uphill. However, the clouds nicely mimicked the foreground sandstone. D600, 18-35 @ 18, f20, 1/5, iso 200 (single image with handheld GNDs). Suggestions, questions, and comments welcome. crying

Scott, I like the light and colors in this very much. That cloud is amazing and it certainly does mimic the sandstone. Love the shapes, lines and textures of the sandstone too. Very nice!

Very nice. Even the cloud's color mimics the sandstone.

Yeah, what struck me is the similarity between the clouds and rock.  Very nice.

Wow, Scott, the color and texture match between the clouds and the land looks great.  The added details in the lower right corner seen in the larger view are a nice improvement on a fine scene.

Great clouds!!! The lines in both sure do work well together, too. It works for me.

The sky and sandstone similarities are uncanny, Beautiful sweeping shot. Processing looks great, Scott. There are a couple of dust spots in the upper areas of the sky that might need to be cleaned up prior to printing.

Wonderful lines and details in the sandstone all capped off with some amazing colored clouds which mimic the sandstone perfectly. Very nicely done, Scott.

Absolutely awesome. Colors look very natural and beautiful as presented but I might tinker a bit with the color balance. I'm thinking that a minor bump in magenta might work well.

The more I look at this one, the more I think it could stand a slight crop from the bottom.  If you crop just so the curve in the lower left is pizza slice shape rather than an elongated s, I think we get pulled more deeply into the image, bring more attention to the hoodoo there, and then the brighter curves on the foreground formation still echo the sky.  It's worth a shot.  Of course, it's lovely as is too.
