Rocky Mountain Bee Plant

The Rocky Mountain bee plant is native to the Great Plains region into the Rockies with limited distribution further East.  I have a small population of these plants in my prairie area.  It is one of the more interesting wildflowers with bright colors and long stamens and seems to attract lots of ants. K5 IIs 600 mm f5.6 + 32mm extension (1/100 sec at f13 ISO 800). Levels, Topaz Details, Bightness & Contrast...................Jim

Very nice image of this wildflower in its natural habitat, Jim. Interesting rig for shooting WFs, but certainly worked nicely here. The larger version, with the ants being much more noticeable, is a real treat.

Great, creamy BG, Jim.  Nice details too.  Nicely shown.

Jim: Great capture of this beauty. We have some in our garden that are robust bloomers but I often struggle with comps. I like how you isolated this against a fine BG and the overall color palette. Really good work with your long lens.>=))>

Encouraging use of a long lens. I will have to try that! Good details, color and dof.cool

The detail in the large version is wonderful, and the ants really "belong" there!

Excellent photo of a beautiful flower tha I have never seen before. I love the contrasting colors of the subject against the BG.
