Wow, better than the other version me thinks. I like the increased sense of symmetry this composition proposes to the viewer and the black diamond demonstrably stands out among the ruby necklace contributed by the other peaks beyond.

Wow! Sweet light and color contrasts, as well as symmetry. I have wanted to get there for a long time, but fail to make the commitment. How long did it take you to reach the basin from the trailhead? South Lake, I assume.

Sweet... comp is perfect for the lack of sky drama. FG makes up for it.. very well done.

Dave, This is really, really nice! Excellent composition and I love how you included the rock under the water in the foreground. Not only including it but making it show up so well. Great light on the mountains and wonderful colors and reflection.

Wow. The large version is just stunning. The detail in the opposite shore is marvelous. And the submerged rocks greatly add to the image because they duplicate and support the distant picks. This is truly excellent.

Preference goes to this image over the previous. The red light on mountains the nice, as are the underwater rocks in the foreground. Good work with the GND. I wonder about a tiny crop off the left, or adding onto the right if you have it, to get the peak perfectly centered.

Another great take of this awesome scene. I love how you've captured these without a dramatic sky.

Beautiful morning alpen light and a great reflection, and I also like the foreground a lot, Dave. Terrific overall.

All,
Thanks for the comments.
Chris,
The spot where this image was made is about 7.5~8 miles from the trailhead at South Lake. Will take a good 5~6 hours depending on fitness level and how much gear you're lugging. Feel free to email me if you would like more details.

I love the warm glow on the mountains along with the symmetry in this image, Dave. The clarity of the submerged FG rocks also make for another superb element in this wonderful scene.

Really sweet, Dave. Well worth the effort. The texture of the rocks in the lake along with the perfect reflection puts this way over the top. Outstanding.

Very nice comp and no clouds needed for this one. I like the light on each side with the silhouetted peak in the middle plus the clear water in the foreground really adds to the overall image. Nice job in getting this, the larger image was a pleasure to view.

Beautiful. Great reflection and sweet light. I definitely prefer this one, not that one needs a preference. This will make an excellent print.
