Oregon Swallowtail

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted July 6, 2016189 views7 comments

This was taken at the Milo MacGiver State Park near Portland last year. Nice group of thistles attracting several nice swallowtail BFs. The dried grass made for a nice even BG. Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. Canon 60D, f5.6, 1/4000 sec, iso 400, -1 exp bias, 400 mm (100-400 ISL), small crop off the top, 80% left.

A great catch, Ed. The bf and thistle are nicely sharp and the background sets them off perfectly.

Nice detail in the butterfly and weed. Perfect clean complimentary background for the butterfly.
