Summer Tanager with Wasp
by Nate Chappell
Here's one from a few springs ago. We were staying at a lodge on the Texas coast during the spring and there was a fallout of migrating birds. There were a pair of Summer Tanagers sitting on the ground outside the front door of the lodge, they were so tired from their journey that you could get very close to them. They started to revive after a bit and found a wasp nest that they started feeding from. I cropped this tightly because the area below the perch wasn't attractive and I wanted to have some detail in the wasp.
