The Gorge in Fall

I know this is out of season but I'm just going through some past fall images for a fall issue of Our Wisconsin Magazine. This picture is one that is going on to them and i decided I would post it here and see what you thought of it. It was made on Skillet Creek about 40 miles from my home and in the gorge on a beautiful autumn morning. It wasn't long before there were several photographers around but I did manage to get a few shots I liked just before that. Large version for best look.
Shot with a Canon 5D3, 24-105L @ 40mm, ISO 100, F/20, 32 sec exposure with a CPL and ND filter.

Excellent Nick! The impressionistic pattern in the water is mesmerizing, and the feeling of this photo is amazing. Maybe dodge the brighter part of the water a bit so that the details become more clear? Very minor nit though, absolutely love this one and I can see it big on my wall.

Very nice!  I love the colors and the combo of warm and wet.  The leaf trails are perfectly rendered, and I especially like the more faint leaf squiggles off to the right.

A very striking image, Nick.  The glow reflecting off the water from the background highlights adds a fine touch of mystery to the wonderful swirls of brightly colored leaves.  I do think that pulling out some more lights detail in the dark area on the right would be good.

Outstanding image, Nick.  I can see why the magazine would want to publish it.  Love the long exposure, mesmerizingly beautiful.

Beautiful image, Nick. The 32 sec exposure produced terrific lines and swirls, and the entire image has a beautiful glow. Expertly and artistically done. devil

Beautifully done, Nick. The 32 sec exposure certainly created some wonderful impressionistic effects with the leaf swirls and the golden autumn reflection. This will look great in print.

Fascinating image. It's as though you can sense the spirits of the place. Very creative approach and the fall colors really helped the streaks become more interesting. The left half appeals to me more than the right. You could create an image of just the lower left half but it wouldn't be as complex as what you have now. Really interesting. It's as though something enchanting is spilling out of that opening into the water in front.

Super cool!  Looks like the middle is actually a waterfall.  Crazy illusion.   Love it.

A mesmerizing scene full of mystery and grace. The fall colors are delightful and I love the drakness that goes so well with it.

This will be a lovely contribution to that magazine.

Regards.

Nick, your choice of shutter speed makes for showing nicely the flow of the leaves on the water.  The rock seems to have a green tint to it.  Pretty cool spot you have in the gorge.

Thanks Doug! Yes, these rocks do have a nice tint of green to them in places along with lots of moss. Nick
