Subtle Light on Dunes

In the several trips to GSD I've always been fascinated with how different light and cloud conditions can offer endless opportunities, and the wonderful shapes can be abstract eye candy.  This one from 2008 includes some vegetation for context and scale.  Cropped out sky and bottom up to the right bank of Medano Creek.

I really enjoy the subtleties that you've caught in your dune shots, Bill.  Cropping out the sky sure looks like a great idea here.  The touch of glow in that valley angling across the frame (as well as in a few other spots) adds well.

Beautiful light and I love the earth tones in the scene, Bill. My only suggestion would be to crop or clone out the vegetation in the LRC. Just a thought.

Beautiful colours in both the dunes themselves, and in the light.  I am preparing for a trip to Namibia and am hoping for some good dune images.

I like the subtle colors and light, Bill.  I think I would crop the bottom right.  Other than that very nice.

Love the color and textures in this!! I agree with cropping the bottom to just above the vegetation. Very cool looking image.

This has a wonderful mood--soft and quiet.  I agree about cropping the bottom. The textures come across nicely, and I like subtle curves. Well done, Bill.

Thanks for the comments, and suggestions about the crop.  It simplifies it and there's enough vegetation left for scale.

Color gradations, shapes, and textures superb.  I wonder what different crops might look like.  The image is so strong it seems it would lend itself well to a number of them.
