Evening Melody

Since I don't get out to photograph near as often as I would like, I always feel blessed when I'm able to witness those special moments when nature sings her song. There's a part of me that is always terrified that I'll miss something, something out of focus or a composition problem I couldn't appreciate on the camera monitor. But in the end it's enough to just be a part of the moment, and if I actually come away with something I feel doubly blessed.

Nikon D7100
Nikon 12.0-24.0 mm f/4.0 at 12 mm (18mm equiv.)
Blend of f/11 at 1/8 and 0.5, and four more at 0.4 for DOF, all at ISO 100

These purple penstamon (?) with the peak in the background at sunset (?) are just wonderful and you have captured well what a perfect moment it was. All of your blending looks just perfect. Yes, sometimes in the rush to get the light we aren't entirely present to the experience of a sunset, but then with a photo like this, you can keep enjoying it for years to come. Very nicely done.

John, your images have a wonderful signature.  Recognizable by their technical excellence and always near perfect composition.  I often find myself  at the wrong place at the right time.  Chasing light and conditions is often a fools errand,  but when it works out, there are images like this to remind us why we do what we do.  Nicely done as always.

This is a pretty song indeed.  Beautiful light and color.  You have rendered it nicely here.  Too bad about all of the dead trees, though.

Wow, definitely right place at the right time.  Wonderful technically too; well composed.  Looks like the northeast side of Hood?

Gorgeous, John.  Really like how you have contrasted the beautiful flowers with the dead trees by including the gray branch in the direct foreground.  Together with the stunning light, your image tells a poignant story of regeneration.  You really make the most of your limited time in the field and were certainly blessed. Exquisite image.

This is gorgeous. Your comp., field technique and processing are impressive. I agree that experiencing those special moments when natures beauty unfolds is worth all the effort and the reason I photograph.

Really lovely. Lots of interest and sweet colours from top to bottom. The branch on the bottom right seems overly magenta to me.
