Street Photography

In the street where I live, I recently noticed a (male) Common Kingfisher (small, some 6.7") , albeit only at times when I passed without my camera. When strolling with the camera, the bird - of course - was never there. Until yesterday... I have many close-ups of this species (some shown here on NPN), so a bird-in-the-environment shot this time ! Have a nice weekend crying, Cheers, Hans

Really like this. The Kingfisher really stands out. It's as if he has a spotlight on him. Well done.

What a lovely composition, Hans.  I love the bright bird against the dim and moody bg.  Very well done.

The bird seriously pops against that dark background. It's like a jewel on dark velvet. Nicely seen and captured.

Really nice birdscape Hans. Like others have said the bird just pops off the screen. Cool moody image!

Hi Hans
Some times the big picture work much better then the close-up.  Really nice work.

I really like these photos, my favorite Avian shots if done right.
Very nice comp with a lot of options I am sure. I might lose the bottom branch?
I also think placing the bird a bit higher or lower to decenter might look good.
Very well done as is...

Thanks all for your comments !
@ Dan Kearl, thanks for your comments - this is some 85% of the original image, leaving me not much room for different cuts. For sure I did not want to loose the arch above the bird. I plan to try a different position next time when taking another image, however I am afraid this is the best position I can get. Besides, the little bugger seems to show up mostly when he knows I am not carrying my camera enlightened.
Cheers,
Hans

The bird really stands out so much that it makes this photograph work. Everything else is at a different level of luminosity. Very nice.

Hans, I like that the minimalism here boosts the effectiveness of that splash of color even more.  Nicely seen.
