A guanaco stands at attention in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. We were fortunate to have crisp weather and clear skies during what was a late autumn trip to the region, which made for some nice photo opportunities with more than just pumas.

I'm not sure why I decided to post the square composition. I have a couple horizontals and verticals as well, but I think I felt this was the best crop to emphasize those great red clouds. Had they been streaking a different way or had been a different shape, I may have felt another composition was more effective.

No idea what a guanaco is, bit this shot sets it off magnificently
Love the graphic simplicity of this shot and it's obviously a "classic" composition. I'm also not a real fan of square crops (in most situations) and I think my personal preference here would be to crop off enough sky to return this one to a 3:2 horizontal aspect ratio...to me this one feels like there's just too much sky (kinda like "too much of a good thing"). But...just personal preference and as posted this is still a real eye-catcher!
Cheers...

Great silhouette and sky. Very beautiful!
