Green Cay Nature area, SE Florida

Landed on a railing right in front of me. It's rare to get them eye-level and looking right at you.
Usually in the water, looking down or ahead for prey.

Nope, he landed on a rail only a few feet from me, and I had to back up quickly to get him in frame.

A very nice portrait, Sandy, particularly that spectacular eye.  I like the pose and composition.

Very nice portrait, Sandy. I like the feather plume flipping up in the back.

What a wonderful portrait, Sandy, I’d say it is close to perfection!
As usual you did an excellent job on the technical side too with no noise at ISO 1600. I wish we had similar ‘tricoloreds’ here in Switzerland.
