Fuzzy wuzzy was not a bear in this example. The large tolype moth is a very hairy lasiocampid moth that can be found flying in Eastern North America during September and October.  K5 IIs 180 mm f3.5 (1/15 sec at f16, ISO 640) Levels, Luminosity masks on Midtones, Darks 2, and Lights 2, Topaz Detail, Brightness & Contrast.  I added a small amount of space along the bottom and cropped for comp..............................Jim

A neat look at this fuzzy "thing", enlightened.  I know there's a head in there, but I'm having a hard time telling where.  The details are great and this view does a fine job of making it clear that spotting one of these would be a challenge as it blends so well with the bark.  Those two patches of lichen are neat additions.

Where's the head? This is one cute moth regardless, and your image does justice to it. Do they come as far south as Georgia? I can't remember seeing anything like this, and I doubt that I would not have found a corpse given our crew of feline moth catchers. Lovely detail!!!!
