Great Horned Owl Release

UNITED STATES - October 2, 2016: Veterinarian Belinda Burwell watches as a  young male great horned owl (Bubo virginianus) is released on a Waterford farm. The release is a partnership between Loudoun Wildlife Conservacy, Wildlife Veterinary Care (Belinda Burwell, formerly with Blue Ridge Wildlife Center) and the Waterford Foundation—on whose land the owl is being released. The nearby Phillips Farm (also owned by WF) is considered to provide a good habitat and food source for the fledgling bird, that had been found injured and was treated by Burwell.   (Photo by Douglas Graham/Loudoun Now)
