Young Giraffe

As we drove through the bush, Mum and a very young giraffe calf emerged crossing our left side, it's amazing just how much ground they can cover even at a strolling pace, only then to disappear back into the bush.

Subject: Cape Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis giraffa) young female with calf

Exposure: 1/2000s at f/9 ISO500 EV -0.33

Certainly the files from the MKII are so much cleaner and so very easy to process.

The youngster looks great and techs right on.  I think here you would have better effect zooming in more tightly to feature the calf, or else have alternate lens setting to include the mother and more of the landscape.

Thanks Lon, I think in this case I would crop slightly tighter without any fear of 'pixel bashing'. I wanted to keep more focus on the calf rather than including Mom here.
