This season I've had little success with these guys in Jean Lafitte NP, but a couple of weeks ago I got a few workable images.  For this I elected to use manual focus, but I'm on the fence about switching to AF (should have tried both).  I attempted to focus on the eye, and was able to get good detail on most of the body, although the hind quarters went a bit soft.  I liked the angle of light to show the textures of the skin.  Full frame in natural lighting.

Hi Bill, a wonderfull composition and excellent rendition of the subject - An excellent image! Not worried about the back of the hind legs - just adds a touch of dimensionality to the subject - all the focus is where it needs to be!

Beautiful.  I love the diagonal and the colors and the light.

I've almost completely given up using autofocus in tight macro work, Bill, especially when working from a tripod with a subject that will often sit as you set up and focus.  This shot looks great to me.  Love all the diagonals and greens.  Your dof and focus choices look just fine.

This is really clean and bright Bill. The texture of the skin and the colors are great.

A frog in its natural environment without the environment becoming a distraction. Simple and strong diagonals. I don't mind the hind quarters being a bit soft, the main part of the frog is in focus and so is the relevant part of the stem. A beauty.
