Fall has Fallen

After the warmest Summer ever, autumn colors finally started to show up along with some near freezing night temperatures.  This scene is across the road from where I live and features an alfalfa field bordered by an oak hickory forest. I went out at sunup and had to sprint across the field to get close enough to the forest edge that was getting lit by the warm glow of the sun.  Three sandhill cranes were probably wondering what was chasing me as I flew by them.  K5 IIs, 28 mm f2.8 (1/6 sec, f16, ISO 160). Slight crop for comp, Levels, Luminosity Masks on midtones, lights, and dark darks.  I also used a transparent gradient to bring up the clouds a bit.........................Jim

The broad swaths of color, the two hills, and the subtle details in the sky all come together very well here Jim.  It's a warm, inviting scene.  I could also see this as a pano with about half the sky cropped.

I can see you were just waiting to pounce on this one, Jim.  How did you manage to pass three Sandhill Cranes without stopping?  Gorgeous morning light on the fall colors and a beautiful rolling field in the foreground.  Nice neighborhood and a wonderful fall image.  Well done.
