One of our up close moments from the Spring Break Tour. This was on the Salt Spring Run to the St Johns River in Florida
Hand held from boat, 80% of full frame. As Dennis Plank has mentioned on several of his post from this trip, shooting from the water with the cypress forest as the background creates some nice black out areas that are especially unique for highlighting the subject.

Interesting framing.  To my eye the green blades on the right are distracting.

Nice catch! I like how the egret is surrounded by the greenery.
I'd personally clean up the errant branches that touch his head and body, and clone out the bits of gray cypress behind him.

Hi Mike.  The Heron really does pop from the dark bg.  I like the way it's looking at something on the other side of the trunk.  I do find the bright green foreground foliage a bit distracting.

Nice look at this heron, Mike.  Really stands out nicely in its environment.  Good detail and nice pose.

Hello Mike ,... Well captured....the PoP is here with the dark background !!  But as mentioned... Green bright overpowering foreground is a distraction. (If mine I do not clone) ,... but toning down greens would really help and appear framing the main guy!
