Blue Grosbeak + Repost
by Paula LeVay
Last April, after spending the afternoon at the Rookery on High Island, Texas observing and photographing a few of the many Great Egrets and Spoonbills that were nesting there, I packed up my gear and got ready to walk back to my car. As I turned to leave, I saw a flash of blue feathers fly past me as this male Blue Grosbeak landed in some tall grass directly behind the railing of the observation platform. Balancing my camera on the railing, I knelt down and captured several close-up shots before he flew off.

9 commentsVery nice frame. Lovely setting and nice details.
As presented it is a bit dark. I played with this and putting a Levels adjustment layer on the image, moving the white point in to 220 makes a significant positive change.
Take a look and see what you think.

And the re-post is even better - just about perfect. The only suggestion I'd have is to clone out (if your ethics allow) that bit of grass just behind the head.
Fine work!
